Industry Sectors
The DuPage Workforce Board has joined the Workforce Boards of Metropolitan Chicago in a sector based approach to workforce development. A region-wide community audit was conducted which provided an analysis of the region's forecasted economic status and labor force needs. Based upon a review of the audit information, sectors were targeted for creating systemic change.
Industry Summits are one of the first steps in each sector initiative. They provide an opportunity to establish working relationships with industry associations, educators, economic development professionals, business leaders from each sector, and public policy agencies. They discuss practical solutions to the labor force issues facing their sector.
In DuPage County, information learned from the regional summit is discussed at a focus group and stakeholders are identified to begin striving for solutions.
