Jobs in today's workforce require more education and training than ever before. A High School diploma is not the last stop in education because jobs that require some post-secondary education will make up more than two-thirds of all new jobs. In DuPage County this is especially true as growth of the global economy has demanded a knowledge-based workforce who continually upgrade their skills. Workers who fail to compete in the knowledge economy end up in low-wage, low-skill jobs with no career advancement opportunities.
Illinois Forgotten Middle-Skill Jobs was written for the Skills2Compete-Illinois campaign of which the DuPage Workforce Board is a member.
