The College of DuPage convened a manufacturing summit, Targeting Change on February 14, 2008. The summit brought manufacturers, industry association members, educators, workforce, economic and community developers together to identify the barriers to finding and retaining the workforce needed in the industry. The Workforce Boards of Metropolitan Chicago convened a Manufacturing Summit in May, 2003 with over 200 individuals representing manufacturing companies, education and training, organized labor, and public policy organizations participating. The Manufacturing Summit Report provides the highlights of the event. The summit and follow-up activities focused on identifying how the workforce development system could assist the industry in addressing their workforce challenges.
